Quick answers before you book

How much does a mobile bartender cost?
As general guidance, most services charge somewhere around $40–75 per hour per bartender, or quote event packages that typically land in the $300–800 range depending on guest count, hours, and what's included (bar setup, mixers, glassware, staff). Those are typical ranges, not quotes — the real number depends on your event, so get two or three quotes and compare what each package actually covers. Every listing here links straight to the service's website and shows real host reviews where they exist, so comparing takes minutes, not days.
What is "dry hire," and why do so many services work that way?
Dry hire means you supply the alcohol and the bartending service supplies everything else — the bar, the ice, the mixers, the tools, and the professionals pouring. It's the norm in most of the country because liquor licensing generally covers selling alcohol, not serving it: many mobile bartenders operate dry-hire so no alcohol is being sold at your event. You buy the bottles (often at wholesale or club prices, and you keep the leftovers), they handle the bar. 404 services here are marked with the "Dry hire" badge — evidence from their own site or host reviews. Rules vary by state and venue, so confirm licensing requirements for your state and ask your venue what they require. Browse dry-hire bartending services →
How do I know a service is licensed and insured?
Ask — any professional outfit expects the question and answers it fast. You're listening for liquor liability insurance, general liability, and bartender certifications like TIPS (or your state's equivalent, e.g. TABC in Texas). Many venues won't let an uninsured bar operate on their property at all, so this is often decided for you. 749 services in this directory are marked "Licensed & insured" — proven from their own website or host reviews, not a guess.
How far ahead should I book?
For weddings, 2–4 months ahead is the general guidance — and for Saturday dates in the May–October busy season, the good services book out earlier, so start as soon as you have a date and venue. Corporate events and backyard parties are usually easier: a few weeks is often enough outside peak season. Booking earlier also buys you time for the fun part — tastings and building the signature cocktail menu. Find wedding bartenders by city →
What exactly is a tap truck?
A tap truck is a mobile bar built into a vehicle — often a restored vintage pickup or horse trailer — with draft taps plumbed through the side. It's a bar and a photo backdrop in one, which is why they're everywhere at weddings and brand events. 544 tap trucks and mobile bar units are in this directory, marked with the "Tap truck" badge. They need a level parking spot and vehicle access to your venue, so mention the setup when you ask for a quote. Browse tap trucks & mobile bars →
How is this directory verified?
Two ways. Listings with a Google Business presence carry their real ratings, reviews, and photos, and we mine those reviews — plus each service's own website — for proof of the things that matter: weddings experience, licensing and insurance, dry-hire details, add-on services. A further 528 services were found via web search and aren't yet rated on Google — those are clearly marked as web-listed, shown after rated services, and never ranked above them. No badge is ever a guess.
How are the services ranked?
By what hosts actually say: rating weighted by review count, so a 4.9 with 200 reviews outranks a lone 5.0. Web-listed services have no Google rating yet, so they're listed separately after the rated ones rather than mixed in. The data comes from public listings, the services' own websites, and host reviews — no service pays for placement, and no service can buy a badge.
